Quick Trip To Sunny CA -

Over Memorial Weekend, Garrett and Ty both had a Basketball Tournament
in Long Beach California!
We decided it had been too long since we had taken the whole family,
so we planned ahead and brought Sis and Aust with us this round.
It was a super quick trip, but fun to be together.
Garrett flew down with his team, which I was a little sad about.
I was really looking forward to being together, but realized too late,
they weren't renting vans this round, they were flying them, and his ticket was already purchased.
Ty was excited about that because that meant
he'd get the entire back row of the car to himself.

Knowing we'd be gone for Memorial Day, I went to Grandpa Davies grave a couple of days
before we left to decorate for him.
It rained on my way out there, but by the time I got there and placed flowers and flags,
I looked up to see the most beautiful rainbow over "Grandpa's Mountains!"
I loved that. Gosh I miss him.  What I wouldn't give to have him here again.

We left for California, Thursday, May 26th.
We couldn't leave til after school and work for Trav, so we had planned to stay
in St. George at the Moss's home there.
We are so grateful they were so generous in allowing us to stay there!
On our way out of town, we stopped by my Mom's to leave her flowers.
Garrett brought Valerie Harker with him, and met us there.

We left to St. George from there, and Garrett took Valerie home and then stayed at
Hamblin's home that night so that he wouldn't be alone. He still had school the next day.

We made it to California early in the afternoon on Friday.

Once we got settled in our room, Julia and Austy got in their swim suits
and we took off to Redondo Beach and Pier.

Austy was really the only one brave enough to jump in to the cold water.
The rest of us just enjoyed the scenery, until he got too cold.
We hurried back to the car and changed him in to dry clothes, and then walked the pier for dinner.
Such a fun place all lit up at night.

We shopped at the gift shops and walked the Pier.
Austy found a shark that he just couldn't live without....
he played with that thing the entire rest of the trip!

The next morning, Garrett flew in, and games started.
We played at a few high schools all over the place
We had about a 30 minute drive between Garrett and Ty's games,
but were able to make it to most of both of their games.
Garrett's team lost in the quarter finals, and Ty's team lost in the Championship.
Garrett and Ty both played Friday and Saturday.
Ty had the Championship game on Monday afternoon.

Sunday we went to church with the team and then we drove to the La Terranea Resort
where I stayed with my friends in April, so we could walk the trail by the beach.
I was really hoping my family would get to see the whales like we did in April,
but they were no longer there.

After we finished our walk along the beach, we walked through the resort and into the lobby,
to get back to our car.
As we were walking through the resort, we passed an outdoor restaurant.
We got inside the doors and Garrett wasn't with us.
We walked back outside to see him talking to a family eating at the restaurant.
As we made our way closer, we realized it was Colin Cowherd and his family,
who is a famous Sports talk Radio host with Fox Sports.
Garrett had recognized him and then in true Garrett fashion, without any fear,
walked back to him and said, "Hey!  Are you Colin Cowherd?"
He said that he was and then he and his wife and girls started talking to Garrett.
As we got up to them, Colin's wife said to Garrett
"Come on around here and I'll take your picture with Colin!"
Without hesitation, Garrett went right on over, interrupted their dinner and got a pic with him!
His girls weren't much older than Garrett!
They saw his Syracuse jersey and thought he was from Syracuse University!  Ha ha!
We had to really try and explain where Syracuse High School was in Syracuse Utah!

That was a fun trip high light for Bub!
We made it back to our car and went back to the hotel for dinner and to pack up for home!

Ty took 2nd in the Championship game!
That was a hard game.  We just didn't play like ourselves,
and lost to the team from San Diego and that we had just about beat 2 days before.
(Dallin Hall, Mason Falslev, Andre, Baylor Harrop, Carlos
Cole DeBoard, Jace Whiting, Ty)
We said our good-bye's to Bubba.
He would be flying home that night and staying with Brooks Kokkola,
then heading to school the next day, while we drove the 13 hours home again!

We stayed that night at Moss's home in St. George again, instead of risking driving home at 4 a.m.
We were going to wake up early and try to get Ty and Sis home for half a day of school,
but we were all so tired, we got too late of a start and didn't get home til after school got out!
It was a fun trip and good to be together as a family.

Because we missed going to the graves with our whole Randle family,
we all met that next night after we got home at Grandma Randle's to leave more flowers.
Then, as tradition would have it......we took off to Iceberg for Shakes and food!
Garrett had a friends party that night and couldn't be with us,
and poor Zach had broken his arm, so Ally and the kids were at the Dr.
Nate stopped by on his way home from work, before heading off to be with them at the Dr.

Happy Memorial Day 2016!
