March definitely came in like a lamb
and out like a lion!
It was a busy month, with a lot going on!
Ty had his choir concert, which is always fun!
We always look forward to whatever shenanigans
Garrett received his Patriarchal Blessing on Sunday, March 5th.
What an incredible opportunity as a parent,
as we sat there and heard what an amazing soul Garrett is.
I only hope he will recognize his potential and always aim high.
The Lord has truly blessed him with the personality and the ability to bless many lives.
I'm sure he will too!
We had a Family Home Evening and invited Grandpa Randle over
to help explain about the 12 Tribes of Israel and about our Lineage.
Then, Saturday, the 4th of March, we took some family names
to the Temple with Garrett and Ty and did Baptisms.
We went to dinner, and then started our fast for Garrett's blessing.
It was a beautiful time at the Temple and then again at the Blessing.
We are so very proud of Garrett.
Sis and I enjoyed the Mother/Daughter Activity the Stake Primary Presidency put on
Thursday, March 9th.
It was fun to be with Julia, in our jammies and to rotate to different classes and activities!
She is so much fun and enjoys being with girls her age!
(Sydney Johnson, Chloe Finch, Julia, Kambree Morris and Olivia Harker)
Wrestling was going on all month for Ty as well.
We are so proud of him for trying this again a second year!
He did awesome!
Ty took 3rd in North End, and 2nd at District.
He battled hard and had an amazing season.
He only had one loss for the whole season, and it that was only because he
got disqualified for an illegal move he didn't know he was making,
being so new to the wrestling scene!
His coaches are amazing men!
They took a kid who had never wrestled a day in his life, and joined the team
mid season last year, to being 2nd place overall in the District for his weight division.
They were so supportive and so encouraging of him.
Ty would run through a brick wall for any of these guys!
As soon as Ty would wrestle, every single one of them would come running,
to tell him good job, give a hug, and then help him know what to fix for the next match.
It was fun to watch Ty wrestle and do really well at it!
Sad to see him wrestle the last match ever.....since wrestling and B Ball overlap
too much in High School.
It was also really neat at our last home meet, each wrestler was to invite
someone they know that had or was serving in the military.
We called Uncle Spencer and were so glad when he was able to make it.
He escorted Ty out on the mat to meet his opponent.
The entire crowd stood to honor these service men and women.
After each kid would wrestle, they would go to shake the hands of our service men and women.
It was a really cool meet!
At the end of season Wrestling Team Party,
Ty was awarded the "Outstanding 9th Grade Wrestler"
and the "Leader of Men" awards.
After the Season, the team suffered a tragic loss.
Dakota Kilburn, a 9th Grader, was hit by a car while walking in the
crosswalk on 2000 W. between the Jr. High and the Elementary on the evening
of April 18th.
This was devastating to our community.
The team put together a fundraiser memorial at the Jr. High later that week,
in hopes of raising funds to help his parents.
Our community came out in full support.
Ty, being a captain on the team, was asked to be interviewed
with some of the tv stations, as they asked about Dakota.
It was a pretty tender night.
His parents and family came and each of the coaches took a minute to
talk about and honor Dakota.
I took Ty to the funeral and went with him to the cemetery.
Dakota's parents took the money raised and made a fund where kids who couldn't
afford to play football in our area, could do so with that money.
It was a hard time for the kids on the team and throughout the Jr. High.
A new light has been placed at the crosswalk to help keep the kids safe.
We finished the month with Trav being called to serve on the Stake High Council.
Our parents and Grandma came to support as the
Stake Presidency set Trav apart.
We had dinner at our home afterward.
I'm so proud of Trav. He will be a great addition to the High Council,
and I just know the wards will love hearing him speak.
Although, it was weird to see his face clean shaven after a year with a beard!
Ha ha!
We are truly blessed as a family!
