May Brought More Than Flowers!

Holy Cow May was busy!!!
Course, it always is with all of the end of School activities!
But this year seemed especially busy!
It started off with me pretending to be a florist!
Logan Harker asked me to do the flowers for her wedding....
of course I said Yes!
Her colors were gorgeous and everything turned out just as we had hoped...
Thank Heavens!
I really love working with flowers and seeing the Bride's love the work!

I totally love these girls and am currently trying to
find a way to lock them all in as our daugthers-in-law!

We love the Harker family!
They were very gracious in inviting us to the wedding luncheon
and then they took me to Beyond Spa for massages with Charlene and Valerie!
That was awesome, let me just say!
It was an honor for me to do the flowers for their big day!

May 9th was another incredible day for us as parents!
That night was the Jr. High Evening of Excellence.
I had been contacted by the school to make sure we would be there,
because Ty was getting an award.
What we didn't know was all that Ty was being awarded with!
That night, Ty received
The Freedom of Leadership (Hope of America) Award.
This award was presented by the Syracuse City Mayor, Terry Palmer.
Ty received that award for his ability to make decisions, being involved in his education and the education of others, being self reliant, studying hard, and helping others achieve.
This award was also given because of his ability to have the command of those around him by the way he lives his life and the decisions he makes,
for being responsible and helping others to be that as well.
Next he received the
Male Athlete of the Year Award.
This was kinda fun, because Garrett received that his 9th Grade year as well.
Ty got this award for being the B Ball Team Captain and Leading Scorer,
Wrestling Team Captain and taking 2nd place in District,
and taking 1st in District in Track for the 100, 200, 400, and 4x4.
Mr. William's presenting this award was the icing on the cake!
He was Ty's science teacher and Track Coach.
Ty LOVES him!
He's very supportive and complimentary of Ty!

We were so dang surprised to see that Ty was awarded the
Language Arts Award!
I may have even chuckled a little over that one.
I am constantly having to babysit Ty on his reading for English!
However, this teacher LOVED Ty and appreciated the help he would give her in class,
and just admired who he was as a student!

Ty and Mrs. Barton

He received the Presidents Award for Academic Achievement for having a 3.5 or higher 3 consecutive terms his 9th grade year.
These awards were presented by Principal Hadlock.

And lastly.....we were so proud to see Ty awarded the
Outstanding Student of the Year Dick Eagan Award, also presented by Principal Hadlock.
This is given to one male and one female student each year.
Dick Eagan was the first Principal at the Jr. High when it opened in 1986.
The recipients are voted on by the 9th grade teachers.
This award goes to the students who demonstrate the highest of character and leadership.
I was in tears as Ty received this award!
Needless to say, as Ty's parents, we were on cloud 9 this night and Ty was beaming himself.
That was a special night.
We couldn't be more proud of Ty and his character!
It's a sweet moment when you realize other adults admire and love your child as well.
 Ty and Mr. Williams

Principal Hadlock, Ty and Ms. Rivera

Ty, Bridger Hamblin, Caden Mitchell, and Jace Whiting

Bridge, Ty and the ladies!  :)

Trav and Garrett both received Male Athlete of the Year in Jr. High as well!
That is a night I could put on rewind!
Special night for sure!

The next night was Ty's last Jr. High Choir Concert!
Wednesday, May 10th.
He and Mikey had to be a little more tame this time, dang it!
But it was still fun!

Mikey Metcalfe, Ty, Kobe Rusch, Bridger Hamblin

These boys LOVED Mrs. Young, and she loved them too!
They kept her on her toes.....until this pic!
With their Coach Tyler Schenck, who they idolize!

The next day, Thursday, May 11th was Austy's Preschool
Mom and Muffin Party.
I have attended 6 of these parties between all the other kids,
and so I thought I knew what to expect by preparing myself for what the kids had to
say about me as a mom! Ha ha!
Austy actually was very cute and nice in what he said.
The kids all sang a couple of Primary songs about Mother's,
and then gave us each a key chain with the preschool picture in it!
It was so sweet!
I loved being there with Aust.

It wasn't until we came home that it all went South!
When Trav walked through the door, Austy ran over to me, asked me where my keychain was
that he gave to ME, then ran over and gave it to Trav and said, "Here Dad....I want you to have this!"
So stinking funny, yet not!!
Oh boy!  Dad's get all the credit sometimes, don't they?! Ha ha!

Friday, May 12th was Ty's North End Track Meet at Syracuse High.
Ty did AWESOME!!
He took first in the 100, 200, 400, and 4x4 with his relay team!
So dang fun to watch!

May 13th was Bubba's Day!
It was his Jr. Prom!
He went with Aspenn Kite to the dance.
They ate dinner in SLC so we took pics on the Temple Grounds and it was beautiful!
I had fun making their flowers!
I'm glad when these kids trust me and let me do it for them!

Garrett and Caden Argyle

The dance was held at the U of U above their football stadium!
They had the best time and they all looked amazing!

The District Track Meet was held at Wood Cross High school
Wednesday, May 17th!
Ty held on to his spots......he took 1st again in all 4 events!!!
100, 200, 400 and 4x4 relay!
Our team took first overall which was dang awesome as well!
It was such a fun meet!
So proud of Ty and all of these kids!

We all went out to eat at a Mexican Restaurant in Woods Cross after!
Congratulations Ty and the Syracuse Jr. High Track Team!!!

On the 20th, Julia sang her heart out at her Voice Recital.
She was so nervous.....but I tell you what.....
when it's time to shine....this girl does just that!
She gets nervous, but you'd never know she was scared one bit!
She knocked it out of the park!
Sis sang "I Enjoy Being A Girl!"

Julia's Voice Teacher - Aimee Geddes

Great Job Sis!  You are a natural!  So proud of you!

Austy Graduated Preschool on Thursday, May 25th and about broke my heart in doing so!
How is he ready for Kindergarten already?!!

 Miss Kendra and Miss Kris

We have taken all of our kids to Tiffiny's Flower Box Preschool in Kaysville.
Yes, it's been a lot of driving back and forth, but totally worth it!
I have loved the education they have gotten there, and when the time comes,
they are always completely ready for Kindergarten!
Garrett was our first to go there, and Austy was our last!
I cried when we said goodbye to the teachers and walked out for the last time!
Congratulations Austy!
You're growing up way too fast!

That same morning, Sis had her 4th grade End of Year Program!
They had been studying Utah and so she got to dress as a pioneer!
It was fun to watch her sing all of the songs!

Afterward, they took us outside and the kids Square Danced.
Sis even got a chance to dance with Dad!!

Sis with Brecklyn, Chloe and Kambree

Olivia Harker.....one of Julia's Best Friends!

Austy also enjoyed Soccer all Spring!
He loves running the field, talking with his buddies and trying to score!
However, he also seems to really enjoy the time he gets to sit out and drink his gatorade!
Ha ha!

 Great Season Buddy!
You always give it your all and are a great teammate!

To finish off May, we had the annual Syracuse Elementary Spring Fling Dance.
Sis loves this day!

Garrett was busy working and trying to earn money for gas and dates!
He worked hard, cleaning the yard at Morgan Pavement, and came home filthy!
Making a hard worker out of him for sure!!
Good hard work, for a good days pay!

It was such a crazy, busy month....but some really special times
and memories for our family.
Our kids are growing up and with each school year passing,
I get more and more sad on the last day of school,
because I know it only means they are moving onward and upward and
closer to leaving our little nest!
