Is there anything better than cheering on your kids
while they excel in whatever it is they love to do?!!
while they excel in whatever it is they love to do?!!
I can't think of much that is!
We just recently returned from Reno, where Ty's Basketball team competed in the
"Jam On It" tournament.
Here was our little team from a farming community in Syracuse Utah,
"Jam On It" tournament.
Here was our little team from a farming community in Syracuse Utah,
taking on teams from the Bay Area and Sacramento California.
We played 4 games, with the 4th being the Championship!
The first 2 games were not super tough competition, but the last two were.
In the Championship game - with a min. and 30 seconds left, we were down by 5.
We came back in that short of time, to win it by 5 -
making us the 4th grade Division 1 CHAMPS!!!!
Once the standings came out for the AAU tournaments,
our little team was ranked 9th in the West Coast Elite!
SO proud of Ty. SO proud of our team.
SO grateful for the time and effort Trav puts in to coaching these kids all year.
Thankful for Trent Whiting and Ken Hall for their coaching as well.
These boys are very fortunate to have these talented coaches to
help them learn, grow, develop their talents, and build a love for the game.
We're grateful with both Garrett and Ty,
to be surrounded by such good kids and parents.
It sure makes our Sports life fun!
The boys had a blast taking the Hilton by storm!!
They ran the halls playing games, riding the elevators and swimming in the pool!
Such a fun, fun weekend!
Before heading out, we left flowers for Mom,
and also my Great-Grandparents in Lake Point.
and also my Great-Grandparents in Lake Point.
Grandma Davies caught the flu,
so I promised I'd leave flowers on the graves there for her!
so I promised I'd leave flowers on the graves there for her!
I have to say, that stop was somewhat of an emotional one for me.
I hadn't been back to Lake Point since my Grandparents had to move
due to Grandpa's health.
due to Grandpa's health.
The home is totally different now than we knew it.
A barn and horses have taken over one side of the yard,
and cars/trailers have consumed the other side.
and cars/trailers have consumed the other side.
Shrubs have been ripped out and wall ornaments have been hung on the brick.
That was odd.
My Grandpa built that entire place with his own hands,
so to see it any other way than he would have had it, was pretty hard.
He LOVED Memorial Day and would go to the Lake Point Cemetery
every day of that holiday weekend and wait for his old friends and family to show up.
It was a small reunion for him! He'd come home for lunch, then head back out again.
Walking through the gates of the cemetery to see one of the gentlemen
who served with Grandpa when he was Bishop, brought tears with the greeting, as I explained
how Grandpa was doing now.
Since we drove down, we decided to leave a day early when we found out how close
Lake Tahoe was, and that Trav had to look at some places for work on the way.
We were so glad we did too!
Tahoe was worth the extra hour and time in the car!!
Too bad it snowed and rained.....would have loved to have explored it a little more!
We stayed at Zephyr Cove right on the lake.
Little outdated, but perfect location and actually just added to the scenery!!
The Mitchell family flew into Reno that next day and met up with us at the lake.
Despite the weather, we enjoyed taking some pics, hiking around, and taking it all in!
The coolest surprise Tahoe had in store for us was around
a small bend in the road as we were on our way out of the canyon.
Our family has very few pics of my Mom just of her on her own.
So, my mind knows each and every one of those by heart.
As we came around that bend, I happened to look up, just as we passed a sign that read,
"CHINQUAPIN."
I immediately told Trav to stop and pull the car around.
Mom and Dad had stayed there one time just shortly after they were married
and Dad took a pic of her in front of that sign -
I had no idea that was in Tahoe!
So.... I got my little girl out of the car and Trav took a pic of the two of us there.
That was a huge treat to see that!
I love taking trips with Trav and the kids.
(Don't get me wrong, driving with the kids is not always roses -
there were times we almost sold some of them to truckers along the way),
but for the most part.....they were good and any time spent with them is awesome!
The Championship game was Monday (Mem. Day) afternoon.
The kids had school, and Trav had work the next day so,
after taking pics with the team and grabbing a bite to eat,
we set off for the long drive home.
As we pulled into the driveway, Tues. at 1:15 a.m.,
our headlights shined on a sign our wonderful neighbors, the Heap's,
made for us!
Such an awesome thing to arrive to!
Thank you to all who supported the kids in their fundraiser and made this whole thing possible!
This one will definitely go down in history!
CONGRATS Utah Thunder!!
