Our rule has always been that when Julia turned 8 she could get her ears pierced.
I thought for sure she would jump all over that.
Little did I know.....she would be scared to death and not even want to talk about it.
I told her I wanted her to do it when she was ready and wanted to do it.
So.....her 8th Birthday came and went and so did a whole year.
During the week, I just happened to ask her if she had thought about
getting them pierced for her 9th Birthday.
She asked me a bunch of questions and we talked about it for a while.
All of the sudden, she jumped up out of her seat and said,
"Ok. I'm ready! Let's go right now before I change my mind!"
It was 8:30 p.m. on a Wednesday night and I was doing dishes and the mall closes at 9.
I laughed and told her we weren't doing it RIGHT then, but if she wanted to,
I would take her on her Birthday a few days later.
The more she talked about it, the more she decided she wanted to, but was scared to death!
Her Birthday was that Saturday, so we woke up, got ready for the day and headed
down to Farmington Station to the Claire's Boutique.
I called ahead of time to make sure what time would be best to have 2 employees there
so both ears could be pierced at once!
Julia wanted to have her friend Chloe Finch there with her,
I guess she needed the moral support!
We loaded everyone in to the car and got there just after 1 p.m.
She picked out the earrings she wanted,
the girl marked the spots on her ears and then it was time!
Julia was enjoying herself, until both employees were there and ready......
you could just see the panic set in!
All of the sudden, Julia got real serious and said, "I wanna hold someone's hands!"
I knelt down on the floor between the two employees and
she squeezed my hands til hers turned purple!
They counted to 3 and that was it!
I was so proud of Sis......she barely even flinched.
As soon as she realized it was over, she let out the
biggest sigh of relief and smiled a huge smile!
Her earrings are beautiful and she looks adorable.
I can't believe how much it made her grow up.
I almost wish we would have waited!
We finished the night off at Olive Garden with Grandpa Randle!
Happy 9th Birthday Sis!
We Love you So much!
Julia and Chloe Finch
She chose the Crystal Daisy's
