August started out with a trip to Coleman Knitting
so Ty could order his Letterman's Jacket.
I loved being able to do this with Garrett,
so I was excited to get Ty there to order his in hopes of getting it for his Birthday.
He got it all designed and fitted!
Hopefully it gets here soon!!
Ive got to admit....
I'm a total Football Mom!
I love this time of year so much.
I've always said I will be heartbroken when the
time comes that our boys don't play football anymore......
and in one way, that time is fast approaching for Garrett.
I cannot believe it and am struggling with that fact.
I am going to enjoy every second of this time I have to watch him this Senior Year.
Our High School Football team has an awesome tradition.
Every year, in Aug. before the season starts, the Seniors, some of their dads and all of the coaches
go on an over night stay to Lava Hot Springs.
The Senior boys get to spend the afternoon swimming, and then that night the Dad's make dinner,
they play some games related to the stats of the football team,
then sit around the fire and talk about their plans and goals for the upcoming season.
In the morning, they work out, eat breakfast and head for home.
- Thursday, August 3 - Friday, August 4th -
Trav was lucky enough to be one of the Dads chosen to attend.
He and Garrett had the BEST time.
I dropped Garrett off at the High School so his truck wouldn't be sitting there over night.
We pulled up, and he got out with all of his stuff and walked over to where the team
was all waiting getting ready to leave.
As I watched him, the tears came and then wouldn't stop.
I cried the whole way home.
I have a Senior.
He's starting his last year of Football.
Life as we know it, will completely change 9 months from now.
These were some of my thoughts as I drove back home.
Not before I stopped to take a picture of him first!

I'm so glad Trav and Garrett were able to do this together!
I love that our coaches have this tradition for the boys.....
such a great way to start their last season of Football.
August 10th we spent with the Hamblin Family honoring Marli.
So hard to believe she's been gone for 3 years.
This year, the Hamblins wanted to do a big service project.
We all met up at Pineview Reservoir and cleaned garbage up at the beach area.
It was an awesome sight to see everyone there in their Teal Marli Shirts,
doing service and enjoying being together.
After the work was done, we went back to a bowery and at lunch.
Trav had to work, and so did Garrett and Ty,
but luckily, Garrett and Ty were up in the valley and were able to pop over for a bit.
We love you Marli.
Not many days go by that we don't have you in our thoughts.
August 11th -
HERE WE GO!!
Syracuse High School Football Blue and White Game
This is the preseason game we play against ourselves, to work out any kinks!
Everyone comes to watch!
Its so fun to start the season, but even more fun to see Garrett and Ty out there together!
There have been a couple of newspaper articles talk about how cool
it is that Garrett and Ty get to be the Safeties together!
This will definitely be a special season!
Garrett is #12, and Ty is #13
So proud of these two and this Syracuse Titans Football Team!
Go get 'em boys!!!
And.......now, it's BACK TO SCHOOL!
Class lists were posted at the Elementary, and Sis couldn't get over there
fast enough to see who her teacher would be and who was in her class.
Austy didn't understand what the big deal was,
but got excited when he saw how excited Julia was!
Julia got Mrs. Griffiths and Ms. Xu
Austy is in Mrs. Perry's and Ms. Su's class!
They both have friends in their classes that they are excited about!
The Kindergarten Round up was held a couple of weeks before school started!
Sis was excited to show Austy around the school!
He met his teachers and got to look around his class room for a bit.
Then, he went all over the school so he could know where everything was!
He loved it!
50 or so years ago, my Grandma Randle started a family tradition that I love!
When kids in the family are ready to start Kindergarten,
we hold a "Back To School" party for them.
Everyone brings them school supplies, back packs, new clothes, etc.
to help get them excited to start school!
This year the party was held at Uncle Brent's home for Austy and Tenley!
They had so much fun!
We ate dinner and they opened their gifts!
Such a fun tradition that the kids love and look forward to!
12th grade, 10th grade, 5th grade and Kindergarten
started for the kids Wednesday, August 23rd!
I woke up at 5:30 a.m. to snap a picture of Garrett and Ty leaving to Football together,
since I knew they wouldn't be home to change and take a good pic
of them for their first day of school!
I cannot believe it's Garrett's last year of High School, and Ty's first.
I'm so glad they have this year together!
Ha ha! Watch out ladies.....they look great!
Have a great first day Boys!!
How the heck did Sis get so grown up??
And sweet Aust.....he's waited so long to get his picture on the porch
and head to the same school as his sister!!
Sis is so excited to be one of the oldest at the school now!
Dad and Mom always like to walk the kids in and take pictures with their teachers
on the first day of school! Wish Garrett and Ty would still let us! Ha ha!
Aust was all business! He never took his hands out of his pockets!
I cried. Big time, leaving him there.
I can't believe Aust is so grown up.
He was so excited to start school, and I'd give anything to have him home again!
Happy First Day of school my loves!
Do your best. Be your best.
And, help others to feel their best when they're around you!
I'm all alone now, and headed to work.
Morgan Pavement needed me to hand out street closure notices!
This will be good for me though!
I figured I'd get good exercise, and make a little extra cash!
I haven't worked in 19 years.....so this feels like a whole new crazy!
I left the school, went to work, got my papers and took off to the hills of Draper!
I took the boys truck because it gets better gas mileage and they had my car!
I pulled into the neighborhood that needed notices, locked the truck,
walked the entire thing and was dying of the heat! I finally made it back to the truck,
dying for water and low and behold.......there were the keys, neatly set on the seat.....
OF A LOCKED TRUCK!!!
What on Earth????
I called Trav, and we realized we didn't have a spare!
I had remembered passing a fire station as I pulled in, so I walked up the hill
and asked those nice guys if they could get me into the truck.
They told me they really aren't supposed to do that anymore, unless you
have a child or a pet locked in there, but seeing that I didn't have a spare and was stuck....
and I was super close to the station, they were willing to help me.
They told me they'd drive down and meet me there.
In my mind, I thought they'd drive a car.
NOPE! Here 4 of them came, in the fire truck with "The Big Easy!"
It was a long stick that got them in the window and unlocked the door!
I guess they would need to be in the fire truck in case a real emergency called in and they
needed to leave quickly, they wouldn't be far down the hill.
They got me in super quick and were so kind to me!
I was so grateful!
I was able to get right back to work and make it home in time to pick Austy up from school!
I can never say another word to Garrett and Ty when they lock the keys in the truck!
Needless to say, my first day back in the work force was eventful!
Garrett and Ty worked at Morgan all through the summer, and continued
to work around the shop yard for a couple of months into school!
It's such a good thing for them.
They are making great money and Morgan is awesome to work around their
school and sports and they are learning the value of hard work!
It's truly amazing how fast time is going!
It's hard to believe school is back in and fall is coming!
