Ringing In The New Year....

Garrett played in a High School Basketball Tournament every day of the

2nd week of Christmas Break.

Because he plays both Sophomore and some JV, 

we were there for 4 hours of games each day.

We managed to squeak in a quick game of 

bowling with the Hamblins though and that was fun!

 Who know what Bridge was doing!  Ha ha!

 While it was really fun to watch all of that basketball,

 we were super tired by the end of the week.

We had hoped to spend New Years at the Cabin, but were too tired to pack up and go!

So, we stayed home and didn't have any plans for New Years.

We had thought we would just stay home and relax.....

maybe bang on some pots and pans at Midnight, and then go to bed.

Mid-afternoon on New Years Eve, Lisa Hamblin text to see if we had gone to the cabin.

When she found out we didn't have any plans, 

she graciously offered to let us come be with their whole Hamblin family!

They had the gym at their Stake Center reserved and were playing games, etc.

The kids were super excited, so we accepted her offer.

We played Spikeball and Trav and I got beat in the first round so we were out! Ha!

The kids had a blast just running around, playing in the nursery and hanging out.

Garrett wasn't with us at that point.....

he had gone with some friends from Layton High.

Around 10:30-11 p.m. another group of people came in 

saying they had reserved the church from then until mid-night.

So, we all packed up and we just figured we would head home.

Once we got outside all of the Hamblins invited us over to 

Grandma and Grandpa Hamblins house

to continue the celebrating!

We played all kinds of games, ate all kinds of food and just hung out.

When Midnight hit......Grandma Hamblin came around with bags of hats,

headbands, glasses, whistles, etc!

The place went crazy, and then we resumed playing games, 

eating and talking til close to 2:30 in the morning!

We told Garrett he was to be home no later than 12:15.

I was worried about him being a new driver out on the roads on New Years Eve!

He called as soon as he got home and asked where we were.

He ended up coming down to Hamblins to be with all of us!

It was such a fun night!

We are so grateful for this family in our lives.

They have been through Hell and back in losing their sweet Marli,

but the example they have been of continuing on in Faith has been incredible to watch.

We spent New Years Day running from store to store exchanging gifts

we all got for Christmas that were either the wrong size or just the wrong choice! Ha!

Garrett and Ty had a lot of those......I didn't do so well with them this year!

Afterwards, we stopped in to The Outback Steakhouse for dinner.

Sis was at a girls overnighter with Grandma Hale and the cousins and Ty was at Wyatt's house,

so it was just the 4 of us!

I am always a little nervous to head in to a New Year. 

While it feels nice to have a fresh start,

 I also become a little apprehensive of what changes the New Year will bring with it.....

and change always makes me a little nervous!

Here's to a great 2016....may the changes it brings only be for the better!
