An Old Fashioned Christmas

This last Saturday we had the Burke Family Christmas Party at the Heritage State Park. If you have never done this before.....it is a MUST! Trav's Aunt and Uncle had reserved one of the pioneer homes for all of us to have to ourselves. When we got there, they had a big dinner catered for us. After dinner, a train picked us up outside of the home and drove us around the park. It stopped at all of the homes. There was something fun to do for Christmas inside each. We first went to one of Brigham Young's homes, where all of the people inside are dressed in Pioneer clothing, they even had Brigham Young. The kids wrote letters to Santa. Out in back of the home was a huge barn with reindeer and Santa. Our kids sat on his lap and got candy canes. We went around to the other homes, where we made ornaments, saw puppet shows, made paper chains and played. It was awesome! For some reason, it really felt like Christmas being there. They had one little cabin, where when you walked in there was a little bed, and a stove and table. The whole room was lit by candles and the pioneers were in there eating supper! It was so cozy in there, I didn't want to leave. It was a wonderful night and everyone had a great time! It would be a fun tradition to do that every year, or at least every few years.
